Priest-in-Charge

The Reverend Martha Ambrose

Martha is excited to join the St. Pauls family in 2026!

Martha grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and will always feel a close connection with the Blue Ridge Mountains. She loves to read (cozy mysteries, classic literature, and just about everything else if she has time), crochet, bake, and go on bike rides and hikes.

Martha obtained her undergraduate degree from Milligan College, now Milligan University, outside of Johnson City, TN. Her bachelor’s degree is in Psychology, with minors in Theater Arts and Bible. At the time, Martha was part of the United Methodist Church and began their ordination process and attended Seminary at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.

After graduating with her Master of Divinity and Master of Theological Studies, Martha served as a UMC Pastor for three years. While the United Methodist Church is still a wonderful part of the body of Christ, Martha discerned her own spiritual journey was leading her to the Episcopal Church.

Martha was ordained as a Deacon on the Feast of Priscilla and Aquilla: Co-Workers of the Apostle Paul (July 8th). Martha was ordained to the priesthood on the Feast of Scholastica of Nursia (February 10th).

Martha also serves at St. John’s Episcopal in Marietta and resides just across the river in York, with her husband, Grant, and daughter, Alice.

The Reverend Dolores Smith

The Rev. Dolores Smith was born and raised in Lancaster.  In 2008, she was ordained a priest in the Diocese of Bethlehem and has served parishes in Schuylkill, Berks, and Lancaster Counties.  She presently lives with her husband and their cat, Simon, in Conestoga.  When she is not serving as a priest, she enjoys walking, biking on rail trails, and throwing axes with her husband, Bill.

Staff

Pam Heisey, Organist and Administrator

Ms. Pam Heisey came to St. Paul’s as Organist in October, 1975. Her ambition has been to play hymns on the organ for a church service.   She had started taking piano lessons at the age of nine, and played for the Sunday School at her church, Ross Street United Methodist. In high school, she began taking organ lessons from Mr. Frank McConnell, who was the organist at St. James Episcopal Church in Lancaster. She told him of her dream; and when a job offer came in from St. Paul’s, Mr. McConnell informed her and she was hired by Father Don Evans, the Vicar there at the time.  Except for a ten-year break, she is still there.
